I originally recorded this song under the name "Spooky Kid's Midnight Symphony." I have minor frontal lobe brain damage which I sustained from a traumatic bicycle accident at the age of 14. When I turned 18, I talked to an ex-girlfriend whom I hadn't spoken to in two years. In that time, she was in a traumatic car accident. She could not remember me, which left a lasting impression on me; ultimately answering "I wonder if she ever still thinks about me?" While I had experienced a more interesting positive life as a result of my injury, she had not. This is expressed in the final lyrics, "read your notes one, read them again. Brain damage is not your friend."
lyrics
Lying on my face
in the street
in the night
in the night.
Purple Sky
Blue light
Black truth
Green Eyes
hugging the curb,
searching for you
Trying to rewind time,
to get to you
Bleeding out my fucking face
Grate my eyes on the pavement
Green Monsters are not your friends
I wish life was my VCR
Read your notes once, then read them again
brain damage is not your friend.
I have a huge appreciation for texture, and sonic texture. This record's lo-fi is something so well felt, it's brilliant. I can't get over the one chord structured song, "How I spent my Summer." Heccra
